Receipt Bot Update: Submit VAT Directly to HMRC & Sign Up with Apple!

Published: May 3rd, 2025

We are excited to introduce the following updates designed to simplify compliance and streamline data access for our users. This release addresses long-standing client requests while enhancing user experience across platforms.

✨ New Features

Submit VAT Returns to HMRC via Receipt Bot

Many users expressed frustration about relying on third-party bridging software to submit VAT returns. This created unnecessary steps and compliance risks. With this update, Receipt Bot can now extract VAT-relevant data directly from uploaded PDFs — including bills, receipts, sale invoices, and ledgers — and prepare the VAT return accordingly.

Important Note: UK-based businesses on the accruals scheme can now submit VAT returns directly to HMRC through Receipt Bot, eliminating external tools and ensuring a more seamless experience.

Apple Sign-Up Now Supported

We felt that account registration had some friction, especially on iOS devices. To resolve this, we’ve added support for Apple Sign-In across both web and mobile.

This makes account creation easier, faster, and more secure for users within the Apple ecosystem. No additional setup is required — tap “Sign in with Apple” on the login or sign-up pages.

New ‘Contact Type’ Column in Master Data

Clients managing large contact lists had difficulty distinguishing between customers and suppliers. We’ve addressed this by adding a Contact Type column to the Contacts tab on the Master Data page.

This small but useful change makes identifying and managing contact roles quicker.
