Accounting with Bank Statement and Improved Extraction Rules UI
Published: 28-Jun-2025
We’re excited to announce a major update designed to bridge gaps in your workflow, give you more precise control over data processing, and enhance overall app stability. This release introduces the highly requested ability to create invoices directly from bank statements, along with several other notable features.
✨ New Features
Create Invoices Directly from Bank Statement Transactions
We know that for many businesses, the bank statement is the primary source of financial records. Accountants often spend hours manually converting PDF statements to Excel, categorising transactions, and then re-entering them as purchase or sale invoices in their bookkeeping software. While Receipt Bot could already digitise your bank statements, this still left a major gap in the workflow.
To eliminate this time-consuming process, you can now create purchase and sales invoices directly from your digitised bank statements. Simply upload a PDF bank statement, and once the transaction data is extracted, a new “Create Document” button will appear next to each line. You can generate an invoice, as key details like the date, amount, and description are pulled automatically. To make this even faster, you can filter transactions by description and utilise the bulk creation feature to generate multiple invoices simultaneously, significantly speeding up bank reconciliation.
What’s Next: This is just the beginning. While you currently create documents manually with a click, future releases will introduce smart rules, allowing you to automate the creation of invoices from bank transactions and further reduce manual effort.

Improved Data Extraction Rules UI
We heard your feedback that our previous extraction settings weren’t as clear, and there seemed to be a lot of settings. To simplify and enhance transparency, we’ve redesigned the Extraction Rules page, replacing a lengthy list of toggles with straightforward options.
This new, simplified UI puts you in complete control, allowing you to tailor the data extraction to your specific needs while managing your credit usage more effectively.

Re-export Edited Documents to Sage Accounting
Previously, if you edited a document in Receipt Bot after it was already exported to Sage, there was no way to re-sync the changes. This forced users to make manual corrections in two separate systems.
We’ve now enabled a re-export function for Sage Accounting. When you re-export a document, Receipt Bot intelligently deletes the old entry in Sage and replaces it with the updated version, ensuring your data is always consistent across both platforms.
